Greek by birth, freelance photographer Yiannis has been working in London for over a year.

Previously Yiannis was based in Italy working in an advertising studio. He graduated from TEI in Athens with a BA in Photography. He also holds an MA in Photographic Journalism. Currently Yiannis works with national publications in both the UK and Greece.

During his career he’s photographed everything from models, environmental disasters, riots and even a pig farm. Though he would say his trickiest assignment was photographing female wrestlers, those ladies take no prisoners.

InnerSleeve 1

Inside Innersleeve Records (early 1980’s)
“Welkum to the inside wonderland ov XxX… “

Inner-X Musick was a record label/mail order catalog run by Boston musician John Zewizz. Over the years Inner-X Musick has changed its name 3 times and released well over a hundred releases. At its high point (the mid 1980’s) Inner-X-Musick released musick by bands such as Sleep Chamber, Controlled Bleeding, Jonathan Briley, 7 From Life, Daze Of Trance, The Flagellents, Hideous In Strength, Women Of The SS, Cult Ov The Womb, Mahcanik, Dokument, Noizeclot, Hunting Lodge, Human Flesh, and PSI Field. But by the 1990’s Inner-X-Musick was the solely promoting Sleep Chamber musick, and usually shared the release with another label (the Italian label Musica Maxima Magnetica, the German label FünfUndVierzig, and Cleopatra Records out of L.A.)

Soon I shall be making a related announcement. There is a lot in store from Inner-X, Choronzon and Veil of Thorns.

Daina Dieva, Svart1 - Incubi Succubi Jul. 4th, 2009 @ 07:18 am

Artist: Daina Dieva, Svart1
Title: Incubi Succubi
#ca283
Date: 2009-07-03
Keywords: dark ambient; post folk; industrial
Tracklist:
01 - Incubi Succubi - 24:58 (320 kbps)

A 25 minute piece "Incubi-Succubi" was born as a live act by Svart1 (Sardinia-Italy) and Daina Dieva (Lithuania) for the opening of an exhibition of the painter Daniele Serra, and performed in an art gallery in Cagliari (Sardinia, Italy) on the 9th of December.
A common point of departure for this musical soundscape was the theme of the exposition - darkest nightmares. And so it flows wandering through post-folk, saturated in dark ambient and covered in the shelters of industrial, closing the circle with the post-folk chant again.
This peace is meant to be perceived as a soundscape for a moonlite night - closing the eyes under the sparkling path of the full moon and letting go of this world. A first phase of sleep is a handful of memories, feelings and illusions, the second phase - the heavy sleep - is a torture of nightmares, the third phase lets you rest in the dreamlands of childhood, while the fourth pushes back to suffering the darkest night hours. Finally the first rays of the sun enlighten the feverish dream and calls out to enchanted awakening.

"Their first vocal CD release in over 10 years!  This new material includes some ov Zewizz's most powerful an unique singing and song writing.  Overly mystic & spiritually dark lyrics - "STOLEN SLEEP" combines sexuality with magick and Egyptian grave robbing ov tombs (aka SLEEP CHAMBERS)"

"Their noticable style evolution shows that SLEEPCHAMBER haz not lost a beat in their lengthy absence."

"Tracks like "Tomb" & "Aura Ov Datura" clock in at a pounding 8 minutes ov cryptic sexual intrigue.  A revamped version ov 1985's "Kum Kleopatra Kum" shows just how far they have kum in over 25 years!"

""Cult Ov Anubus" weaves iano & wolf howls with dark synth waves & heavy drum kicks.  The title track "Stolen Sleep" iz a totally different mixing style putting the bass guitar & cymbals up front.  Top pick haz to be "Into The Crypt" fling by at a fast tempo in 5 minutes ov toe tapping, hip humping rhythms, and hypnotic chorus."

"The very Noticeable Middle Eastern keyboards and entangled guitar styles iz continuous thru out the complete CD.  Featured artwork by KAYTWO iz excellent!"

"A limited special price of $10.00 makes this release a must to any and all SLEEPCHAMBER admires.  Seriously, if you own any SLEEP release this should be it.  It reflects their very unique rogue style which only they can deliver.  Surely to please even the fussiest tastes.  Their efforts here merit all SLEEPCHAMBER admires support."

THAT'S ROMANCE.... 2 (2009)

The problem with putting things on to two releases is that people my think that the second release is not as good as the first release. Well, about 10 seconds into this release you will realize that's not the case. From Stpocold's hard driving first track all the way through mrtvi hypnotic (and loopable) final track - download two is just as good as download one.

A couple people have mentioned that they want to post the release on their site...

» THAT'S ROMANCE.... 1 (2009)
Released today, a collab between my own Foamin' Sodomy records and theeWonderful, theeLovely, TheeBradMiller and his Kill Your Godz. Interpretations of the many facets ov the work ov John Zewizz. Of course, most chose SLEEP CHAMBER, but there are a number of tasty obscurities on this one.

I'll let theeBradMiller take it from here:

THAT'S ROMANCE.... 1 (2009)

Too many tracks were entered for this simply to be a one download deal. So, the release has been split into two. Assembled by me, and then all artwork was done by P. Emerson Williams. And as anyone who know, who has done artwork for me before - I goof up regularly so the Artwork is never really done...

This release is on the Foamin' Sodomy Records. And, if it ever gets pressed... that's it's label for the pressing as well.

The final deal on the pressing IS....

I will press it at no charge to me. But the only way that you can get a copy is to buy one. I know that sucks... but, what can I say. It's the best I can do on a budget (did I tell you I am laid off for 50 days.). All the profits will be given to a charity. It is a charity that helps Polar bears. John hooked me up with it. I don't know the specifics. Because I can't find them. But I will get it straightened out and up on the page as soon as it is available. There will be no pressing of your musick unless I get an email from you saying I can do it. No email - then your not on the release.

There will be no attempt at a pressing for at least a week, possibly two, until I get all the details worked out and emails in. I will be purchasing 2 copies of each of the two releases to start with. One for me, and one for John Zewizz. By the way, again so everyone knows this release was made with his blessing.

Walking Through and Writing About Cirxus

Some reports of a couple writer's first walk through the features of the Cirxus landscape are out.

What's On Stage says among other things:

The stark and industrial setting for this piece of promenade theatre is instantly eerie and unnerving. There are posters of atomic bombs and mushroom clouds, a ghost-like woman wandering around with an accompanying rattle of radioactivity and a classroom dedicated to the study of all things nuclear; all reminds us why we find ourselves in this warped environment...

... The experience is simultaneously funny and disconcerting. Whilst involved in one situation there are many other scenarios happening around the space which you are not witnessing, adding to the idea of the unknown and therefore making every audience member’s experience completely unique.

Click here for the full review

Quoth Remote Goat:

...Cirxus had a great overlaying mystery to it. Who were these people and what had happened to them? What was their "Home Sweet Home"? Picking up clues from snatches of scenes, led to the potential for answers through a kind of linear intermission, where a key character was introduced and the audience was specifically guided once more...

...Writer and director, John Harrigan deserves a lot of credit for the organisation of this brilliant cobweb of a performance, and for making something that could have gone so wrong, go so well. It's a great juggling act, worthy of the big top.

The lighting was ominous and the random groans reverberating through the warehouse added chillingly brilliantly to the sinister tone.

1957- Seascale, the North of England. Cirxus is an old English circus lost in the shadows of the smoke stacks of Calder Hall, the world's first commercial nuclear power station. FoolishPeople will use mythology, shamanism, music and dance to bring the darkness of an atomic circus to life. The performance will allow audience members to step into the world of an old English circus lost in the 1950s, explore its sideshows and meet extraordinary characters from the past and future.

Athalia the ballerina waits in the ring for Loudon the Clown to return with directions to the Black Pool, the mythic site of the Home Sweet Home, the final show of the season. Join her as she begins a bizarre and wondrous search for Loudon through the irradiated secrets of Cirxus, where she must face the macabre atomic menagerie, haunted by circus animals and navigate her way through the maze of strange, hallucinogenic sideshows on the other side of time. Immerse yourself in the world of Cirxus, where theatric arcana and Atomic fallout irradiate the sawdust arenas of our inner worlds.

I'm passing on TheeBradMiller's post verbatim. His is a bit different, disembodied fragments charged with a heavy current. Nothing can equal being present at the performance, so if it's at all possible for you to get to Cirxus at the Arcola Theatre in London, you should.

Said TBM:

Cirxus - FoolishPeople/P. Emerson Williams

This is a big post with a lot of information... So hang in there.

'Art on the Inside, Blood on the Outside'
First things first, one of my favorite spots on the web is a web site called FoolishPeople.com. If you have not stopped by there, I highly recommend the re-education. There tag line says it all; "FoolishPeople create Weaponised Art, Ritual Theatre and Film. "

Which brings us to the second point... CIRXUS

Opening May 25th at Arcola Theatre in London. Cirxus is a production written and directed by John Harrigan.
1957- Seascale, the North of England. Cirxus is an old English circus lost in the shadows of the smoke stacks of Calder Hall, the world's first commercial nuclear power station. For those of you in the London area you can buy tickets HERE

Fortunately for us. This is a project that includes the incredible talents of P. Emerson Williams... he of Choronzon and Veil Of Thorns (Both part of the KILL YOUR GODZ website). He has created the soundscapes for the production and has offered his demented musings for us to enjoy. According to Mr. Williams
The music is a sonic and psionic evocation of the Godz of stasis, of Marduk and of the Atomic Age. The aural images and gradations and movements between frequencies were chosen and enhanced to plunge the listener into the Black Pool. ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IjfkBvs9E7k )

You will not die, for by listening, you have undergone de-contamination. Now, only through the temporal space and psionic locality of Cirxus may you emerge from the Black Pool.

Tension and disappearing. Sailors drown, crew die, people are replaced. Might I take the liberty to enquire that you have found your replacements? To fill in for you and keep the memory of who you are alive and well, as it were. Of course you have! Good. Very sensible indeed! Now listen, can you hear that wonderful noise? » "NEW SLEEPCHAMBER TUNE FROM SOUNDTRAX"

TheeBradMiller created this SLEEPCHAMBER video to the track "No Air No Way (Dreams Ov The Resperator)" off the new SLEEPCHAMBER CDr "SOUNDTRAX", using some clips from old videos and what he claims was about 10 minutes of editing....

He goes on to say:

My point was so you all could hear the track. And to introduce you to the CDr. According to Inner-X...
The material iz quite unique. "Sanatorium" iz remixed and edited down to 20 minutes from a video soundtrak ov 1989 that stands on its own. "Succubi Sister" iz an unreleased track from the "SIAMESE SUCCUBI" sessions. It features Laura Graff on spoken words (to whom this release iz "in loving memory ov"). Another "Succubi" track iz "Psychosexual" - left off because Zewizz felt there were already too many instrumentals on "SIAMESE SUCCUBI". "No Air No Way" iz featured remixed and unedited, much better than the earlier release. "Blackmask (Hex 23)" iz a keyboard piece done by Zewizz in 2000. It stands outside the usual SLEEPCHAMBER style. It's quite eerrie. "Archangel" iz a track rejected from the movie "The Prophecy" reasons unknown. Other tracks are from rekordings ov the 2001 era - planned release on Musica Maxima Magnetica Italian label. All unreleased.

The "SOUNDTRAX" CD iz the first release on Inner-X in a special series ov serious releases. The packaging will be enclosed in a DVD box, complete with liner notes booklet & tech notes. The first issues will be individually numbered, officially stamped and for a period ov time autographed.
This particular track is "No Air No Way (Dreams Ov The Resperator)" and according to the liner notes;
Remixed from the original into stereo and one ov the trax rekorded with 'Sound Suggestion'.
